Purchase: RDX (LED) flasher unit relay from Just Add Lightness

  • RDX LED Flasher Unit Relay

This is our top of the range flasher (indicator) relay and it replaces the standard relay when you upgrade to LED lights. It corrects the indicators flashing too fast without the need to use a load resistors. This relay has been tested on Caterham’s with the Just Add Lightness LED lights.

Why do I need this?

LED lighting draws much less power (load) and lasts way longer than standard incandescent lighting. Replacement of indicator bulbs with LED’s will cause the indicators to flash too fast. This happens because your new LED lights draw such little power. Installing an LED flasher relay specifically designed for LED lights is the easiest method to solve this problem.

What about load resistors?

Some people choose to fit load resistors to imitate the load of the incandescent (standard) bulbs that they have just removed. This results in more wiring, things may get hot and you are probably using more power than the standard bulb set up that you just replaced! Installing an LED flasher relay is the easiest way to solve the problem.

Whats the difference between this RDX relay and the Wipac relay?

There are many LED relays on the market and the Wipac is largely considered one of the best. However, no two Caterhams are the same and we have found that the Wipac relay is not compatible with approximately 40% of Caterhams. In these cases a more uprated relay is required and this is where the RDX steps in. The RDX has been specifically designed to handle any LED/standard bulb combination. Where other relays fail, the RDX does not. It was originally designed for Land Rovers pulling trailers with a mixture of standard and LED lights. Most LED relays can handle 30-40 Watts, the RDX can handle 140 watts! Its tough and it works perfectly in a Caterham. It has a 100% success rate.

Whats in the box?

  • 1 x RDX 4 pin LED flasher unit

Technical Specification

  • 12v
  • Works with any combination of both LED and standard bulbs

Additional Information

  • This relay has a manual adjustment for the flasher speed but this is not used on Caterham cars.
  • This relay has 4 pins and the standard Caterham has 3 pins. This is normal and the relay will still fit and work in your car.
